In my particular case I was taking Portuguese classes with Miriam. I had to deliver several speeches in portuguese during my time in Brazil and Miriam made it possible.

Miriam is a perfectionist. During my speech preparations there where several times when I was ready to quit and Miriam ensured that I kept praticing. When I thought I had practiced egough she would then bring another teacher from the school to listen my speech and offer suggestions.
